How it works
Spray-applied fireproofing or SFRM (sprayed fire-resistive material) is vital in the design performance of your building. The spray applied product needs to be installed in strict compliance with all building codes and manufacturer requirements. Correctly applied SFRM insulates steel beams, columns, braced framing and metal decking from the high temperatures found during a fire to delay (or even prevent) the failure of steel structures. It goes on quickly and effectively, making it an ideal choice for time-sensitive projects. TMI’s efficient application helps minimize the potential for jobsite interruptions and delays.

Standard, Medium & High Density Cementitious Fireproofing Application
Low Density [15-21 pcf]
Low, standard, or commercial density products contain gypsum as the binder. Low density SFRMs often provide higher yields and have faster coverage rates when compared with medium density products.
Medium Density [22-39 pcf]
Medium density fireproofing generally contains a binder made from cement or a mixture of gypsum and cement. This provides a much more stable product that can withstand air movement and minor impact.
High Density [over 39 pcf]
High density SFRM is usually made with a cement binder, which provides the hardest fireproofing product. High density is usually used in mechanical rooms and parking garages since it can withstand higher impact to the material.
